Lalishri

Lalishri was inspired by the Hindu mystic and saint Lalla Yogishwari and by the wonderful violin playing of Nichola Benedetti.   The solo violin represents Lalla moving from a slow beginning to a progressively faster and faster centre and then returning to the slow pulse at the end.   This concept derives musically from the most sacred form of Indian music the Druphad which I had immersed myself in at the time.   When Lalla discovered the true Self (Atma) within her she took off her clothes and danced naked under the vaults of heaven.  The mood of the music is one of sustained ecstasy with the serenity of Atma.
